Bring your Hunting Dogs. Find that Rooster.
Have some Fun!

Let’s have some fun!!! When did getting together with your buddies and watching your dog find birds get so complicated?

At Last Rooster Standing we are about getting back to basics. We are not the biggest. We are not the fastest. We might not even be the best (yet), but we know dogs, we know people and we know how to have a really good time.

The Last Rooster Standing Hunt Club & Shooting Preserve is about having a great experience. It is about watching dogs work, good dogs and maybe, not so good dogs. It is about fellowship. It is about preserving an American tradition by passing that tradition on to both youthful hunters and people who are new to the hunting experience.

At Last Rooster Standing we are dog people. We love watching birds, we love shooting birds. We love eating birds. But we are really dog people. Our lives are dedicated to the care, training and breeding of quality bird dogs.

We run our dogs on the National Shoot to Retrieve (NSTRA) circuit, and to that end we have had some success. We have been able to compete at the national level and have had good success in the Northwest Region. (For more information or to talk about or attend a NSTRA event please contact us or visit www.nstra.org.)

OUR GOAL

It was not my intention to start a shooting preserve. Recently, as I entered semi-retirement, my friends, who own a substantial amount of property, became worried about my new found “free time”. They had seen my dogs work and knew my passion for bird hunting. To keep me busy they offered me unfettered access to thousands of acres of ground.

This is exceptional hunting ground that has traditionally held ample populations of wild birds. Unfortunately, over the years the wild bird numbers have plummeted. I suspect this due to a combination of factors but the reality is that this is ground that should hold exceptional numbers of wild birds and is not producing the numbers of birds it has historically produced. I agreed to take on this project with the condition that we work to return this ground to habitat that produces wild birds.

Fortunately, for me, I have, over the years, made numerous connections to really high-quality dog trainers and preserve managers. These folks agreed to partner with me and, after long hours of discussion we decided to launch the Last Rooster Standing Shooting Preserve.

Our goal is as we seek to increase the numbers of wild birds is to create, on this exceptional ground, an exceptional hunting experience. We recognize that this will mean different things to different people. To some this might mean a bird hunt that resembles the wilds of Montana. To some this might mean a chance to work a young person into a location where a bird has been planted for a safe shot. To some this might mean an opportunity to train your dog. For some this might mean a chance to reward clients by taking them on a guided bird hunt.

At the Last Rooster Standing we can provide all of these experiences and more. We can help you set up situations to train your dog or your kid. We can let your spouse see why you love your dog and hunting. We can provide you with a situation that resembles a wild bird hunt with your dog or with a guide. We can provide your client with an exceptional bird hunting experience.

WHY LAST ROOSTER STANDING?

There are exceptional shooting preserves in the Spokane area. I have used most of them. They are quality operations. They are safe and they offer good ground to hunt. Their prices are reasonable.

The difference is simply that we want your business. We have a greater purpose and we are going to try harder. If for any reason your experience at Last Rooster Standing is not exceptional, we will make it right.

We also have exceptional dogs. A few years ago, at the Big Horn Show, I booked a hunt with a great provider, who was offering a “hen special”. When I explained to him that a hen special might be tough because my dogs could smell color, he was skeptical. After the hunt, where we seemed find as many roosters as hens, he had to agree.
